Sperm production. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a freeze-fracture through a seminiferous tubule in the testis, showing the tails (blue) of multiple sperm cells (spermatozoa). The seminiferous tubules are the site of spermatogenesis (sperm production). During production and maturation, the head of each sperm cell is buried in the surrounding Sertoli cells (green), which nourish the developing sperm. A connective tissue sheath (brown) surrounds each individual tubule. Magnification: x350 when printed at 10 centimetres across.

We were walking around Chelsea, and a fleet of rude inhabitants walking puppies refused to let us pet their babies. WTF? Why do you own a dog if you’re not going to engage with other dog lovers? I always let curious passerby pet Jack… and when they want to snuggle the princess, I gently warn them that she’s unfriendly. I don’t say “NO” and yank the dog to the other, unpopulated side of the pavement.

Finally, a lovely woman with a copper coated husky named Venus let me pet her puppy. And not only did Venus let me give her a rub down, but she leapt up to my shoulders to give me a huge hug and wet kiss across the face.

“By Jove!!!” I thought. “HOLY CRAP CAN I HAVE HER?!” I screamed in the woman’s face.
